The screen on your iPhone 12 Mini is a cutting-edge, yet fragile piece of technology. There are several mechanisms at work within the iPhone’s screen assembly, and any one of these functions can fail or become damaged when we drop our phones. A Digitizer can have a limited or a complete lack of touch response. The AMOLED display can suffer from display lines, bleeding, feathering, dead pixels, hot spots, water spots, dead spots, or can go completely black and not display at all. It’s amazing how much punishment our devices take but , if your iPhone is experiencing any of these issues, iFixGalaxy’s display replacement service is what you need. If your screen is cracked but it still responds to touch and has a fully functional display, you may only need to have the screen replaced.

When the screen on your iPhone cracks, it may become impaired, and if left unrepaired the damage may worsen. Smartphone’s display is made of an AMOLED and glass assembly, and when your smartphone’s glass cracks but your touch response (digitizer) and display (AMOLED) is left unharmed, a simple glass replacement can fix your issue. Repairing is not just recycling!  In fact, it is much better. It is difficult to overstate the impact smartphones have as  part of a digital transformation which has revolutionized communications, financial inclusion, and agricultural productivity, but as smartphone sales have skyrocketed, so has the device’s contribution to waste streams and carbon emissions.

iPhone 12 (AMOLED) and Glass Replacement is just one thing we can do to counteract e-waste!

Smartphones have the potential to power economies and improve lives without damaging the earth – but only if we reconsider their lifecycles and think beyond recycling. Global electronic waste generation reached a record high of 53.6 million metric tons in 2019. This was an increase of 21 percent in just five years and worked out at approximately 7.3 kilograms of e-waste per capita. While recycling smartphones is required when phones truly reach end of life stage, keeping phones in use for longer (and therefore minimizing the number which actually need to be recycled) keeps materials in use for longer, reduces waste streams, and means less energy is required for recycling processes.

Extending the smartphone’s lifespan should be a key aim for all stakeholders trying to reduce e-waste. In the USA, smartphones are replaced approx. every three years. The restart project estimates that on a global level, increasing the lifespan of a smartphone by 33% (e.g. replacing after 4 years instead of 3) could prevent annual carbon emissions equal to the annual emissions generated by the entire country of Ireland. Additionally, using phones for longer periods and throwing them away less regularly can reduce the waste streams needing to be recycled.

Assuming 60 years of smartphone ownership, increasing smartphone lifespan from three to four years would represent a change from 20 smartphones to 15 smartphones, a 25% lifetime decrease in the number of devices used). The best way to slow the rise of e-waste is to keep our electronics in use as long as possible. Repair lets us do that It lets us replace batteries, add memory and upgrade processing, all of which can prolong the lifespan of our electronics. Repair diverts usable devices away from landfills, and back into use. Not only does repair prevent waste, but it prevents natural resource exploitation. If cell phones were used for one year longer on average, the United States would save 7.8 million tons of raw materials per year.
